Scanning in color has never been more cost-effective in production environments. Now you can be sure to capture all the information in your documents, as accurately as possible, without having to scan color documents separate from bitonal, insert separator sheets or experience a 10-fold increase in file space needs. With Spectrum, there's no better way to scan in color.

Now you can cut your color scanning processing time by up to 60% over other methods with Auto Color Detect (ACD). ACD automatically senses color documents and scans them in color even when mixed with bitonals or when one side is color and the other is black & white. The best part: you'll no longer have to use separator sheets with patch codes or have to pull out your color documents and scan them separately. This will help you save thousands in productivity gains even if you only scan a small amount of your total documents in color.

You can now save up to 40% in file space when scanning documents with color backgrounds. These document images tend to be the largest because they contain the most color - only photographs contain more. In addition, because of such color inconsistencies as varying print quality, paper type and bleed-through from ink on the back of the document, even the slightest change in color is captured as information. Color Background Saturation eliminates this unnecessary information by "smoothing" the document's background into one uniform color, which dramatically reduces file sizes for these images. In addition, users can choose to dropout the image's background color altogether, while keeping all color information in the document's text or foreground.

Now you can enjoy full VirtualReScan™ (VRS) functionality, including automatic deskew while scanning in color, without slowing down the speed of the scanner. That's the benefit of Hardware VRS.

Scanning with ISIS applications has never been easier with Spectrum. Now you can modify and save all imprinter, barcode and patchcode settings within your ISIS application. This prevents you from having to make manual changes in VRS or in the scanner's operator interface every time you need to make a change.

The operator interface LCD, found on the scanner's front panel, can now be displayed in French, German and Spanish as well as English. In addition, all measurements can be displayed in metric as well as imperial.

Böwe Bell + Howell's exclusive "Ignore by Size" feature of ultrasonic multifeed detection just got better. Now you can automatically ignore photographs, labels and envelopes and other items that might be falsely interpreted as multifeeds that are up to 10” (254 mm) in length, which is up from 4" (102 mm) with firmware prior to 1.20. This allows you to catch true multifeeds and ignore things that other scanners would interpret as multifeeds without stopping or having to rescan the entire batch again. Now that’s intelligent double-feed detection.
