VRS: Uninstall
To uninstall versions 4.x:
The following are step-by-step instructions to uninstall Sidekick OEM VRS software from a PC host scan station.
- Go to the Windows Control Panel> Add/Remove program, and remove all instances of "VRS" and "Kofax.
- Next, Use the Windows Find Files / Search to find and delete all files with the following name patterns: Kofax200.ini, *310.*, bic*, *.kpm, *.kfx, kfx. Make sure to set the search for Advanced > Find hidden files and folders.
- Reboot the PC and Install VRS 4.10.xxx.
To uninstall versions prior to VRS 4.0:
The following are step-by-step instructions to uninstall VRS software (versions prior to VRS 4.0) from a PC.
Note: this procedure assumes that you have an approved version of a VRS installation CD, which will be used to re-install VRS or install VRS 4.0 on the PC after the correct uninstall procedure has been followed.
- Start PC from an OFF condition. Do not start any instance of VRS or a scanning application that uses VRS.
- Go to Windows Control Panels Add/Remove program, and remove any entries that contain "Adrenaline"' "Kofax", "VirtualReScan" from your PC (press "Yes to All" when prompted for file uninstall).
- Next, use the Windows "Find Files" or "Search" program to find and delete all files with the following name patterns or file extensions: Kofax200.ini, *310.*, bic*. Note: Windows may not allow some of the listed files that are in use, to be deleted. Skip over these files, as they may not be part of VRS. As long as the PC was started AND no instances of VRS or VRS applications were opene.
- Reboot the PC and reinstall the version of VRS you require.
