Dell GX620 Slim line PC

 

Bowe Bell + Howell Scanners have certified the DellGX620 Slim line PC for use with the BBH Spectrum XF series scanner and VRS 4.00.119. Certain conditions must be observed when configuring or installing the scan station.

 

Summary

  1. Using the Dell GX620, Catalog Number: 70703 with Riser Card Combo FH Riser, 1PCI/1PCI-E.
  2. Physical install of the Kofax 650i 16700020-000 (or equivalent) in slot #2 of the GX’s Combo FH  Riser, 1PCI/1PCI-E.
  3. That the 650i be the only PCI, PCIe or AGP expansion PC board installed in the GX620.
  4. That all Windows Plug and Play devices be installed before and that the 650i be the last peripheral device installed.

Additional Information 

On a computer, that is running the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) and Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), you are not able to set or change the IRQ steering or settings, sort of slots, that Win assigns and steers or allows sharing of devices depending on use or resources, in the Device Manager or other Win system settings. PC or machine BIOS could override IRQ assignment or disable Plug’n Play, but not likely given the newer PC motherboard BIOS options (not available).

The Test GX620

When the conditions, set in the summary were observed, Windows XP set the 650i at IRQ 16, when inserted in “Slot 2” (closest to the microprocessor) in the riser. Anything lower than IRQ 10 most likely would be of concern since IRQ9 is reserved for steering.
