Does Windows 2000 support Spectrum XF SCSI series scanners?
Windows 2000 / XP will not correctly load the appropriate driver for the Kofax 650i SCSI interface card. However, during the install of VRS, the correct drivers (ASPI and *.sys) are loaded. After installing, VRS will ask you to reboot, in which the 650i will appear correctly loaded in the Windows Device Manager.
Listed as the " Kofax Adrenline 650" for newer 650i cards.
Listed as the " 650i Ultra-Wide SCSI Adapter" for older 650i cards.
It is important to first install the VRS software, then install the 650i PCI PCB.
In the hardware manager the Spectrum XF may be listed with an ? in front on the scanner. That is normal because the scanner uses a driver bundle supplied with the Kofax 650i SCSI card. Although this does not create any functional problems, the cause is because the scanner was never listed in the PCs "SCSI Special Target List" within the PCs registry file.
