How Do I Use Trūper Advanced Color Dropout?

Question:  How do I take advantage of Advanced Color dropout for my forms processing application?

Answer:

Trūper has the ability to drop out up to six unique colors per side for a forms application.  The reason that this is important is that it allows the form designer to create different color forms to allow the user to be visually directed when completing them, i.e. red for one set of information, pink for another, or violet for a third.  It also allows the form designer to use corporate colors and have them dropped out as well.

All tools to do this are provided with Trūper.

These instructions are an abbreviated set.  Please refer to the Trūper user manual for more detailed information http://www.bbhscanners.com/downloads/truper_op_manual.pdf.

  1. Scan the document in color at a 200 dpi or more.
  2. Turn on HiZoom.  The HiZoom utility is located on the Trūper Resource CD.  It can be loaded on to the PC, or can be run off the Trūper Resource CD.
  3. Place the mouse over the color to be dropped out.  The individual RGB (red, green, blue) values will appear next to the mouse.  Record those values.  The RGB values determine the color that will be dropped out.  Repeat this for all colors.  After recording all of the color values, turn off HiZoom.
  4. Change the scanner settings back to black and white, simplex or duplex and scan one document.
  5. Go to the Advanced Settings tab, and click More.  The Advanced Settings dialog box will appear.
  6. Select the side that will have the colors to be dropped out (both, front or back)
  7. Select the Multi Color button.  The Multicolor Dropout dialog box will appear.
  8. Select the first custom color box on the top portion of the dialog box.
  9. Click the Enable check box in the lower portion of the dialog box.
  10. Click the Choose button.  The Color dialog box will appear.
  11. In the Custom Color dialog box, enter the RGB values that you recorded into the Red Green and Blue fields in the lower right portion of the Color dialog box.  After entering this information, click “Add to custom color” button.
  12. Close the Color dialog box.
  13. Repeat steps 7 to 12 for the additional colors that you would like to add.
  14. Exit out of all of the menus, returning to the main scanning menu.

Trūper is now set up for dropping out multiple colors for your forms processing application.
